Graduating from college is a huge milestone for many people. They are looking forward to what they hope will be a successful future; however, what they do not plan for is how they are going to pay back their student loans which may include consolidating private student loans. Many people have suffered with credit troubles particularly in the recent economy. While we all want to have excellent credit the reality is that every so often life throws us a curveball and things ensue that are past our control. However, credit troubles can cause a huge quantity of trouble for a person because with low credit scores and bad credit it is difficult if not impossible to get credit, you can be charged much higher interest rates or you may have to put down more security if you do acquire credit.

Debt settlement firms want you to have at least $10,000 in credit card debt. They want $1500-2000 of that $10,000 in fees paid first before they begin working on settling your debt. They tell you to stop paying your credit card and to send those payments to them for their fees and to save for a lump-sum settlement.
